Martinus is contracted by KiwiRail to design, manufacture and supply turnouts, crossovers, and turnout rodding for its major network upgrades.
Martinus has been busy designing and delivering approximately 40 turnouts a year to new standard for the network. These are KiwiRail’s first ever tangential turnouts and represent a technological leap for the network
KiwiRail’s new turnouts feature:
- Tangential geometry for increased operation speed and passenger comfort
- Anti-creep thermal expansion blocks for protection of points operation
- Inner stock rail resilient fasteners for transfer of dynamic forces
- Australian standard concrete bearers with a 50-year lifespan
- Single-piece explosively-hardened manganese monoblock crossings for instant wear resistance and reduced maintenance grinding
These turnouts are being built to the highest specifications for improved performance and durability throughout their lifespan.
