Martinus, as head contractor, has been awarded the design and construction (D&C) contract for the Sydney Metro Southwest. This contract follows a successful Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase with Sydney Metro, focusing on the Corridor Intrusion Risk Assessment along the Southwest T3 line.

Scope of Work

The Sydney Metro Southwest project is a pivotal infrastructure upgrade designed to meet the future demands of Sydney’s growing population. These enhancements will bring the Southwest T3 line to the standards required for automated Metro operations, set to launch in [year]. Key elements of the scope include:

  • Errant Vehicle Treatments:
    • Installation of eight station overbridge barriers to enhance commuter
    • Seven non-station road-over-rail overbridge barriers to prevent vehicle
    • Barriers at 66 non-bridge locations, crucial for protecting the rail
  • Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) Treatments at the eight station precincts to ensure the safety and security of commuters and the surrounding communities.
  • Road Upgrades, including kerbside ramps at Wiley Park, to improve access and safety for all road users.
  • Fencing, finishing works, and streetscaping elements across various locations to integrate the infrastructure seamlessly with the existing urban

These upgrades are crucial for transforming the T3 line between Sydenham and Bankstown stations into a state-of-the-art Metro service, offering safer, more reliable, and efficient transportation.

The T3 Bankstown line will be closed starting 30 September 2024, with construction expected to be completed by late 2025. This work is essential to ensure the timely and successful integration of the T3 line into the Sydney Metro network.
